Easy walking. Hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiles, fishing, wildlife viewing.

No wheeled motorized vehicles, dogs permitted, certain trails good for horses.

The town of Jaffrey, NH, purchased the area in 1997. Cheshire Pond covers 38 acres and consists of a total area of 66 acres.

Swing by the Amos Fortune house, sadly poorly renovated with vinyl siding. We parked at the Nutting Road entrance. Access is through a narrow gate.

We decided to travel the loop clockwise. The trail soon becomes narrow, but thanks to the hard work of the talented young people from SCA.org the soggy ground was easily traversed.

Be aware that this area is wet. In spring, it will probably sing with peepers. Later, our friendly insects, black flies, and mosquitoes will be asking for blood donations.

There are fascinating trees, so be sure and take the time to appreciate them.

The young people of SCA are so talented, and their hard work is greatly appreciated. And, they do this work during blood donation time.

We found one erratic.

It was a delight to come upon the large wildlife viewing stand. A perfect picnic spot.

Too soon for Cheshire Pond to be filled with birds and frogs, but beautiful.

Unfortunately, Noah felt the need to defame some of the trees. I can only post this photo. The others are X rated. If you know Noah, please send him out to clean up his mess!!

Unconscionable!!

Throughout the trail, there are further signs of human “art.”

We stuck to the main trail and did not take the little side trail. Save for next time.

All in all a lovely trip through a fascinating wet woodland. And now, photo dump.

And my funky map.

Definitely not for navigation
