The trail entrance is not an easy find coming from the South.

The trail signs and LCHIP marker are not easily seen.

We had Google, All Trails, walk for a Dog, and Waze. Google headed us in the opposite direction. While the trail eventually ends at Shattuck Pond rd. (Actually a woodland lane) off Old County Rd, it is not where the trail head is. Trail head is off Pleasant Pond Rd. It is approximately 1.9 miles from when you turn on Pleasant Pond Rd. Across from a lovely pond, which is actually part of the Piscataqua River. Two drakes were courting a mallard lady when we were there.
The trail entrance is close to Kee Mtn. Drive.

The trail is approximately 2.5 miles. We did not take the side trail out to the “picnic” spot

There are many lovely vernal pools. As it was chilly, there was not a lot of noisy activity.

We enjoyed pausing at all the small erratics.

And, there were some great trees as well.

This is a lovely, fairly easy trail. There is a little hill climbing, but nothing is very strenuous. One small rock climb is sketchy, but we all made it, and it was only a few steps of concern. One of our group just slid down.

It takes a while to get to Shattuck Pond, it is lovely, isolated, and peaceful. No birds had arrived there yet
We found some perfect spots to pause and enjoy the view.

After pulling off from the pond view the trail to Shattuck Pond road, which turned out to be a very unused class 6 road, gets a bit less clear. We had to duck and detour a couple of times, but worth it for the option to explore the old road. A future goal.

And it wouldn’t be my blog without a photo dump.
